We drove to a town outside of Philadelphia, and were surprised to find the site full of geese, ducks, and an occasional wild turkey running around. (yes, the big ones like you see from Thanksgiving pictures!)
We spent one day in downtown Philadelphia and took the walking tour. We lined up and saw the cracked Liberty Bell and read the history, etc. Many of the visitors were from India / China / etc. It was neat to see people from other countries really take a huge interest in our early freedom trails and watch all of the videos in their own language.
After the Bell, we visited Independence Hall and took the tour of the building. Our guide gave us the 10 minute overview of the situation, background, history, etc. When we saw the courtroom and the meeting room, we really felt like we understood the history and what the men were going through. Their necks were on the line, and there was no guarantee of success. (and NO ARMY!)
Carrie had a Philly cheesesteak sandwich, and loved it!
